M 1956 Police officer hat badge, 1956-57.
Very scarce version of the badge showing 16 republics in the Soviet state emblem (the USSR State emblem was changed in 1956 to 15 republics but the old version was still used on the M 56 Police hat badge until 1958). Aluminum, paint. 41mm tall x 34 mm wide. Features slightly heavier construction and darker center than the later versions of the badge. Excellent condition (the unfilled red paint in the star is a manufacturing imperfection common to this type of badges, not a result of damage.)
