200th Anniversary of the Founding of St Petersburg, Table
Medal in Bronze - 1903.

Unsigned but engraved
by Vasyuntinsky. Obverse shows conjoined busts of Peter I
and Nicholas II.
Reverse shows allegorical female figure and an imperial
eagle floating over the skyline of St. Petersburg; "In
Memory of Foundation of the City of St. Petersburg 16 May
1703 - 1903"
In fine to very fine condition. Nice color, only one minor
knock on the obverse at seven o'clock and a minor knock on
the reverse at twelve, there are minor bumps on the faces of
both emperors and a dark area on Peter's neck.
The Mint in St. Petersburg made a copy of this medal in 2003
in a smaller size; the presence of the mint's current
hallmark on one side plus the overall flatter look of the
copy would keep anyone from mistaking it for one of the 1903
